I'm Brydon. This is where my longer writing lives.

I've been building things in and around Guelph for over twenty years. For nine of them I ran ThreeFortyNine Coworking, and inside it a room called Founders' Club, where a small group met every week and told each other the truth about what they were building.

Most of what I write here circles one argument. We ask a small group of people to risk everything to build something, and then we mostly leave them alone with it. The execution side of building keeps getting easier. The judgment side never has. What founders are missing isn't information, it's a room.

That room exists again. Founders' Club is running virtually now, small and biweekly, and if the writing here sounds like your kind of thinking, it might be your kind of room too.

The old shiftmode has over 300 posts going back to 2006. I'll bring the ones worth keeping over here as I go.
